The Northern Territory Business Events Support Fund (NTBESF) has, to date, invested $1.16 million resulting in the attraction of 26 confirmed business events that will welcome 8210 delegates to the Territory, the majority visiting in 2019. These confirmed business events are expected to generate an estimated $21.4 million in delegate expenditure into the Territory economy.
Darwin is hosting the 2018 Australian Tourism Export Council Meeting Place in November with a record 410 tourism industry leaders attending who are expected to inject over $1.3 million into the local economy.
KPMG and MCBE Asia-Pacific have been engaged to deliver the first long-term business events strategy, due for completion by the end of 2018. The strategy will articulate a vision and framework, shared by both government and industry, for the sustainable economic growth of the business events sector through to 2030.
